Team MCDIA Walks at LUNGstrong 5K to Raise Money for Lung Cancer Research

The team at McDougall Interactive is proud to have participated in the 2nd Annual LUNGstrong 5k Run & 1.5 Mile Walk around the Cherry Hill office park in Beverly!

LUNGstrong was founded in 2010 and is dedicated to funding innovative lung cancer research with the goal of eradicating a disease that impacts thousands nationwide – lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related death in the US, and the American Cancer Society estimates there will be about 221,200 new cases of lung cancer in 2015, and about 185,040 deaths. The US has the 8th highest rate of lung cancer in the world, which is the most common form of cancer.

LUNGstrong has donated more than $1,000,000 directly to support lung cancer research since 2010. The group’s primary fundraising event is its Pan-Mass Challenge team, which started with just 6 riders in 2010 but has grown to 60 riders in the 2014 PMC, raising $370,000 to support Dana Farber Cancer Institute lung cancer research.

In 2013, the group launched a 5k Run in Beverly. This year, 100% of the proceeds from the walk went to Massachusetts General Hospital’s Thoracic Cancer Research Program .

It was a gorgeous day for a walk on May 3rd and our team was out in force, glad to help raise money for lung cancer research. John Maher, Marie, Bob, Bob’s wife Lisa, Jesse and his son and Meg and her family all had a great time walking and enjoying the music, lunch, and beer afterward!

We can’t wait for next year!
