Linkedin marketing part 5

Getting the Most Out of LinkedIn, Part II

Linkedin marketing part 2

Create Your Company Page

Click on the “Companies” tab on LinkedIn’s upper navigation bar and you’ll be taken to a page where you can either search for companies or add a company.

Company pages don’t have as many features as LinkedIn personal pages—the four sections, or tabs, are “Overview,” “Employees,” “Product Pages,” and “Statistics.” They’re great ways to push out updates about your business and link to content of interest to your customers and prospects.

Update Your Status at Least Once a Week

LinkedIn personal profiles and company pages are similar to status updates on Facebook. You can use them to post brief company news and links to articles you’ve read or cool business content you have created.

Each time you post an update, you appear on the home page of all your LinkedIn contacts, so they’ll automatically see what you’ve been up to lately. Share your success stories and thought leadership ideas as marketing opportunities.

How to Do a Status Update on LinkedIn

  1. Hover your mouse over the LinkedIn Home Tab
  2. Select “LinkedIn Home”
  3. A dialogue box will appear with the words “Share and Update”
  4. Update your status
  5. You will also have the option of sharing a link
  6. Click on the “share” button

Limit your updates to roughly two or three times a day (depending on what your audience reacts well to). You can feed LinkedIn updates to Twitter because Twitter can be updated more often. Sending Twitter into LinkedIn is bad if you send everything and you start overdoing your daily updates. Also make sure that information like what you had for lunch doesn’t come into this very business-focused network. Better yet, unless you’re a professional chef or a restaurant critic, think twice about sharing the lunch news via Twitter too often…

Apps

Use apps to display slideshows and video. Check out Apps from SlideShare, WordPress, Portfoliodisplay, and Google Presentations, etc.

Job Seekers

LinkedIn is a great tool to help you land that dream job. Ensure your profile is complete and up-to-date. Your LinkedIn profile is your chance to showcase your skills and talents and help the right people and opportunities find their way to you. Users with complete profiles are 40 times more likely to receive opportunities through LinkedIn!

Search on LinkedIn Jobs and message key Contacts. Use an “inside connection” to help get you access to a company or job you are interested in. Use the JobsInsider Toolbar to access job listings from your browser.
