Email Marketing Opt-In Lists

Four Simple Steps to Create an Email Opt-in List

Email Marketing Opt-In Lists1. Get people to sign up.

Get people to sign up who otherwise might just do nothing on your site and may never come back. Use a call to action such as “sign up and get 10% off” or simply “sign up for our email updates.” You can try testing different subscribe button colors as well as adding or removing a privacy policy link near the subscribe button. Sometimes simply saying “WE VALUE YOUR PRIVACY” under the button can increase conversions.

2. Confirm

Thank them (on a “thank you” page you can track with analytics) and tell them an email is on the way with a link that they’ll need to click on to confirm their subscription. This is know as a “double opt-in.” It should look something like this:

Thank you for submitting your information.

Please Note:
A confirmation email has been sent toyou@you.com. In order to complete the sign-up process, please verify your email address by clicking on the link sent to you in that email.

3. Explain

Explain your privacy policy and “unsubscribe” process, and offer the link to complete the process:

I will never rent, sell, or otherwise distribute your information to anyone for any reason. You can also unsubscribe easily with no hassle.
