Blog marketing
focused on a single topic or theme. Companies often use blogs to create a dialog with customers and explain features of their products and services. One of the key features of a blog is that companies get a username and password and anyone who can use a computer can generally be trained to add content. Because of this content management feature, a company can easily add new pages that the search engines will index and value when considering ranking you in the top results.
Basic SEO for blogs
Create a Theme
An internet retailer might focus on reviews on their blog while a lawyer might make a blog offering weekly tips. Whatever your theme, make sure it matches with your business goals and has been thought out in terms of matching the keyphrases and keywords for which you want to rank. If one of your products or services makes you by far more money than any of the others, then you might consider hyper focusing the blog on that particular topic, so Google sees a lot of content in that area and ranks your site better for those key terms. This is especially important if this part of your business is also highly competitive and when you have limited content relating to it on your main site.
Keyword Rich Content- Build categories and posts around topics that people search on
- Keywords in post and page titles
Keywords in URL of page - Keywords in outbound links
Keywords in bold tags - Keywords in heading tags
Keywords in image alt tags - Keywords in the text of your post
Keywords in meta tags
Essential Considerations
Never create a blog on someone else's site such as yourblog.blogger.com. This just gives that site more content, not yours. Set up your blog as follows:
yoursite.com/blog or blog.yoursite.com
Make sure the posts have "clean URL's that allow keyphrases separated by hyphens (often drawn from the blog title)
Post regularly and link out to other related blogs in hopes they will appreciate it and link to you
Post all of your email newsletter content on the blog in an archive
Submit stories you post in your blog to sites like digg.com
Get listed in blogcatalog.com and technorati.com etc.
