Attention Interest Desire Action Satisfaction

Sell Using AIDAS

Attention Interest Desire Action Satisfaction

Don’t forget to keep the customer satisfied!

AIDAS is a marketing acronym that describes a common list of stages used when selling a product or service:

Attention

Attract awareness of customers

Interest

Raise interest by demonstrating advantages and benefits (instead of focusing on features)

Desire

Convince customers that they want and desire the product or service and that it will satisfy their needs

Action

Guide customers towards taking action or purchasing

Satisfaction

Satisfy the customer so they buy again and become a product or brand “cheerleader”

The theory is that using AIDAS can help you market effectively. Sometimes it’s recommended to split the AIDAS formula into two pairs of promotional steps:

  1. Attention + Interest
  2. Desire + Action.

Keeping in mind these various stages that users go through can help you decide what types of headlines and images to use to get attention, pique interest, and close deals that make people feel good. Otherwise, you may inadvertently leave out essential parts of the closing process and lose sales.
